THE ROOTS OF ADDICTION AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM
Addictions to drink, drugs and activities such as gambling can present
the practitioner with a range of problems. Almost all addictions are masking or medicating unresolved trauma and will not be
healed until the trauma is healed. This healing may require a range of techniques, often over a long period of time.
For the homoeopathic practitioner, addictions can hinder proper case taking by masking symptoms and by creating artificial
modalities and they can mask or distort the effect of a well-chosen remedy. An addict has a huge investment in maintaining
the addiction and the social relationships and self-delusion which go with it and the friends and families of addicts will
often support the addiction, in order to maintain stability. People with addictions are some of the most difficult cases to treat successfully.
This day will examine a range of strategies to deal with addictions, using case examples, and will offer pointers to support
outside homoeopathy which may be useful. For those who have already attended “Treating people with addictions”, this session
will build on that and incorporate a deeper understanding of addictions.
You are welcome to bring case examples to discuss during the session.
Open to qualified and student homeopaths and to all other therapists
