Community Homoeopathy:
How to become a charity & find funding; Homoeopathic
treatment for survivors of domestic abuse & chronic mental health problems
Homoeopathy for All (HfA) is a recently formed charity
set up by a group of homoeopaths who offer free treatment to disadvantaged groups in Herefordshire.
In this full day’s CPD, Kate Gathercole RSHom and Barbara Winton RSHom, both members of HfA,
will discuss the process of setting up a charity and the advantages (and disadvantages) of working in this way;
such as the benefits of working through existing local organisations, and how – even in the current
climate – funding may be found.
We will also discuss cases, remedies, and treatment approaches from our two currently funded projects,
at West Mercia Women’s Aid and Herefordshire - MIND.
Women’s Aid clients often present with acute emotional stress, sleeplessness, anxiety and depression
and can respond quickly and well to Homoeopathy. Longer term work is needed with those for whom
the history of abuse goes back to childhood.
MIND clients tend to be chronic, complex, highly medicated cases that can also respond to careful prescriptions.
Working in this way as one of a team of homeopaths in the community, has been rewarding.
The model offered by HfA is one which other groups may like to adopt. Those interested in working with
disadvantaged groups in their areas might even consider using HfA as an umbrella for their own
organisations and should find the day very useful.
It will also be useful to those with an interest in treating the effects of PTSD and chronic mental health problems.
Open to qualified and student homeopaths and to all other therapists
